The design for this two-story, 4-bedroom Adirondack style mountain home balances comfort and elegance with natural materials to create a ruggedly sophisticated residence. Located on the shores of Lake Keowee, the design integrates the steep topography of the site and provides maximum visibility toward the lake. The predominate feature is a central two-story courtyard wrapped within the primary spaces. The design creates a layering of views from each of these spaces through the courtyard and out to the lake.
The use of indigenous materials such as dry stacked stone, rough sawn cypress, and cedar shakes enhance and reflect the rustic ambiance of the home. The variety and diversity of the spaces – from the vaulted central living room, the screened porch anchored with a fireplace, to the central courtyard, and the elevated master bedroom deck – afford the owner opportunities for outdoor living, dining, entertaining, or just relaxing.
