The membership of the Olde Providence Racquet Club had outgrown its existing clubhouse and determined that its best course of action was to build an entirely new facility. The result is a 17,500 SF clubhouse on two levels with the main entrances, along with the public spaces such as the Club Room and Pro Shop, on the main level and the private areas, such as the locker rooms and exercise areas, on the court level below. Views from the public areas to the tennis courts below were a primary goal of the program established by the membership planning committees. The plan accomplishes this by creating a wide porch that wraps the Club Room on three sides while offering shade to the patio below, as well as extending the functions of the spaces that open onto the porch and the patio below. These court-facing spaces were also endowed with abundant windows to behold the activities and landscape beyond.
