Greenville’s Nicholtown Neighborhood remains a culturally rich and economically diverse community which retains a large number of senior-age lifelong residents. While the neighborhood features some of Greenville’s finest bungalow and cottage structures, in recent years a portion of its less distinguished housing stock has deteriorated significantly. As these residential structures are demolished, opportunities have been created to provide good quality urban infill development. Local non-profit agencies such as Genesis Homes have risen to the challenge of redeveloping some of these sites. Working hand-in-hand with neighborhood residents and community leaders, Neal Prince Studio has designed craftsman style single family affordable-rental homes on Rebecca and Palm Streets. These homes provide a key component toward achieving the community’s overall revitalization goal of accommodating the community’s senior-citizens who desire to remain in their familiar neighborhood setting.
